Description

Grapefruit is a subtropical citrus tree known for its relatively large, grows to 16-20 feet tall. It has white flowers and dark green leaves. The fruits sour to semisweet, somewhat bitter. The interior flesh is segmented and varies in color from pale yellow to dark pink.

Grapefruit is a citrus hybrid as an accidental cross between the sweet orange and the pomelo or shaddock. It originated in Asia and was taken to the Caribbean by Europeans in the 1800s.
