Description
Ginger is a flowering plant that originated in Southeast Asia. It’s among the healthiest and most delicious spices on the planet.It belongs to then Zingiberaceae family, and it’s closely related to turmeric, cardamom, and galangal. Ginger plant grows up to three feet and produces green leaves and it also bears white or yellow flowers.
In the Middle Ages, ginger spread to Europe through the Spice Route, and then to South America by the Spanish. In the ancient Indian medicine system, Ayurveda and was used to reduce sadness, low self-confidence, and nervousness.
The unique fragrance and flavor of ginger come from its natural oils, the most important of which is gingerol.
